Lecture demonstration time

Today we took Karen's class and worked on our dual ballet/contemporary lecture demonstration, to be premiered at next week's Family Fun Fest at Flat Branch Park on Wednesday the 16th at 7:00 pm, for the remainder of the day. We are restructuring the lec dem from last year's format, which takes some brainpower for this first smaller performance based on the amount of space we will have. It used to be just a shortened ballet class and we have interwoven portions of Karen's contemporary class to give our audience a better idea of the big picture of our daily training.

We also have a new dancer Dancer Profile today! MCB would like to introduce Genene McGrath.

Full name: Genene Helen McGrath

Age: 21…not for long October 17th!

Hometown: Jamison, PA
College and location: Point Park University, Pittsburgh, PA. 2009 Grad!

Favorite TV show: I really have too many! Top Chief, Friends, The office, Gilmore Girls!

Favorite movie: To be honest I am not a really big movie watcher…I don’t have a favorite.

Favorite book/books/author: The Five People You Meet in Heaven, and Tuesdays with Morrie I could read over and over again and learn something new.

Favorite dancer: Kind of cliché but my favorite “celebrity” dancer would have to be Sylvie Guillem. But my favorite non-celebrity dancer (yet) would be my friend Alex Edwards because he can do whatever he puts his mind to, and I could watch him tap for days.

Most visited website: Duh…Facebook.

Favorite place in Columbia: I have only been here for a couple weeks but I really enjoy the Ragtag. Really neat atmosphere.

Three words to describe how you feel about this year with MCB?: Nervous/excited/thrilled!

Biggest influence in your life: My family, they are so supportive and loving. They remind me everyday to be grateful.

If you could invite anyone to dinner, living or deceased, who would it be and why?: My great-grandmother. Just because I would like to see her again.

Favorite indulgence: ice cream. All forms. Any time of the day.

Craziest moment onstage: Performing Robert Battle’s “The Hunt” this past semester was the craziest moments I have had onstage with myself and other dancers.

What do you like to do in your free time?: In my free time I like to work, ride bikes, and watch Food Network.

Words to live by?: Just be happy!

Tomorrow: thoughts on another day with Shannon and a chance to meet new dancer Wendy Langton!
